Brethren,
Our apologies for the website being down recently. All issues have been resolved and we should not be seeing issues such as this again.
May is here and we have already started off in magnificent fashion. We had a wonderful program at our Stated Communication with Don McAndrews putting on his Ben Franklin program for the Lodge. Bro McAndrew’s program was received very well by all in attendance and was very entertaining. The program was done in full costume and was presented as a first person testimonial of Ben Franklin discussing his young life and how he became to be a copywriter in the city of Philadelphia. We were also honored to have Bro Dan Stephens Return his Entered Apprentice Catechism which was approved by the members present. Wor Alan (Odie) Case did a masterful job in preparing Bro Stephens for his Return and if there were any nerves they certainly didn’t show.
We would also like to take some time to recognize Bro Marc Felish who Returned his Entered Apprentice Catechism the previous Monday. Bro’s Felish and Stephens are the first Brethren to Return Catechisms at Olive Branch since Wor Brian Schreffler since the 2009 Masonic year. This is indeed a wonderful occurrence for the Lodge, and know that there are currently four other Brethren working on their Catechisms. As always, we are in constant need of coaches for our Candidates; if any Brother is interested in becoming a coach, or if any Brother is interested in coming back and learning their Catechisms please see or contact one of the Officers with your interest!
District 2′s trip to Oakland MD was a great success! Olive Branch Brethren were included in that visit and our very own Bro Matt Zumbar was our exemplar Candidate for the evening as the Master Mason Degree as Virginia confer’s was shown to our Maryland Brethren. Many thanks to RW Fred Meyer and of course Priscilla for hosting the Brethren at their lovely house.
May will be a little less hectic for the Lodge. We have two remaining events left on the calendar for May; District School which will be held at Hamilton-Thompson Lodge on Thursday May 24, and a double Entered Apprentice Degree the following Wednesday, May 30. Finally Brethren, we are beginning to prepare for our involvement in the Tour de Cure coming up on June 3. Bro Greg Lee is looking for volunteers to help man our tent throughout the day as we serve refreshments to the bikers who will be riding through. Our location once again will be Rufflo Park in Leesburg just down the road from Tuscarora Mill restaurant. Please reach out to Greg if you would like to help!
