Thanks to all who participated in the Master Mason section of the Grand Master’s one-day conferral on Saturday, August 16. Congratulations particularly to Bro. Gary Williams and RW Chris Thompson, PDDGM, who both did a fantastic job with their respective parts in the East.
I received word in mid August that the Lodge of Low Vales that was originally scheduled for Thursday, September 4, 2008 was canceled. Apparently, there was some new government regulation that was passed that restricts the presence of non-mining personnel within quarries and mines. A great shame, as it was always a fantastic event.
Our Stated Communication for the month of September will occur on the second Monday of this month (September 8, 2008) in accordance with our bylaws, due to Labor Day. Our scheduled speakers for the evening will be the District Instructor of Work, RW Larry Frye, PDDGM from Freedom Lodge No. 118 and our new District/Lodge Masonic Home Ambassador, our own Brother John McWilliams, who recently volunteered for this position.
The Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, MW Edmund Cohen will be making his Official Visit (untiled) to District 2 in a dinner organized by the Master and Officers of Hamilton-Thompson Lodge No. 37. The date for this visit is Saturday, September 27, starting at 6:00 pm, located at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church. Location details are in the Trestleboard on the next page. Tickets are available from the Officers of Olive Branch if you are interested in attending.
Finally, I’m putting together a list of all those Brethren who are interested in attending the Grand Annual Communication in Richmond in November. Please contact me at 703-669-6202 or via email at jstevens[at]patriot.net if you plan to attend as soon as possible.
I look forward to seeing you all in Lodge! With respect, I remain...
